The 13th Doll is a fan-made sequel to The 11th Hour.
The 13th Doll is another adventure game currently on Kickstarter which offers a big box physical release reward. It’s a fan-made followup to The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour. While the game is not associated with Trilobyte Games, they do appear to have the blessing of the original game’s copyright holders. The 13th Doll has been in development for a number of years.
Attic Door Productions provides a plot synopsis:
The 13th Doll ties in with the events of The 7th Guest. A decade after Tad managed to escape the mansion, he is still haunted by the souls, dolls, and Stauf’s victims he left behind. So haunted, in fact, that the young man now resides in a mental institution – misunderstood, plagued by guilt and obsessed with one idea: to escape the dreary padded walls of his asylum cell, return to the mansion – the site of his innermost fears – to rescue those he left behind and defeat Stauf once and for all!
The Kickstarter is asking for $40,000. As of this writing, it has earned a little over $7,000. The big box release is priced at $150. This will be an interesting one to watch, mostly because Trilobyte’s own Kickstarter for The 7th Guest 3 came very close (but ultimately failed) to getting funded.
In breaking with the other two games, The 13th Doll has other environments pitched besides just the mansion. There is an insane asylum, and players will finally get to explore Stauf’s toy store which was mentioned in the first game. How these areas will be connected remains to be seen.
Otherwise, the game looks quite similar to the other two. There’s creepy environments and puzzles to be solved. It will not doubt be full-motion video heavy; the developers have mentioned that a chunk of the fund will be going towards actors.
It’s obvious Attic Door Productions are huge fans of the series. We at Big Box PC Game Collectors wish them luck in their endeavors.
